SOLO ART SHOW BLACK OUT: A SENSORY EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT SUCCESS
March 9, 2019
Bias' current collective "Black Out" turns her often whimsical watercolor portraiture dark, in depictions of black and white figures with color splash. Bias fused the notion of traditional portraiture along with newer artist trends such as alcohol ink, adding the element of abstraction.

Opening night featured 18 recent paintings from this year and Bias' first ever installation. Bias wanted to create a gallery "experience".
To honor her recent study of black and white gray scale studies, she had the lights out in the gallery. There were string lights dripping from the ceiling and around the paintings. Guests were given LED lightbulbs to interact with the artwork and enabled them to see all of the fine details of the artwork - in the dark!

In addition to paintings on view was the installation deemed "The Sensory Room". The room was fully interactive with creations made by both Bias and her 7th grade students. All of the senses were excited in this installation. Music was playing throughout the night with the theme "black" or "darkness". A silent auction took place during the opening for limited edition wearable art.

The collective will be on display at Brecksville Center for the Arts until April 6th.
